  Jupiter – After having reinvented a business her mother founded 32 years ago, Nancy Sylvester Abbott is now in her 12th year of operations with Village Interiors, 1615 Cypress Drive. She introduced a workroom in 2002 and completed an upgrade a year ago making for much more efficiency, then in September of the same year added her daughter, Sarah, to the staff. Nancy explained, “We needed to diversify and create a smoother and more flexible system of operations. With Sarah coming into the business, we’ve been able to accept more business, work towards becoming a totally green company and establishing a format whereby we can offer the consumer alternatives in their window treatment needs. By becoming a green company, we not only recycle, but are making strides in product usage.” With more flexibility, Nancy is able to spend more time upgrading the company website and blogging about interior ideas for more comfortable living. Further, she is planning to breakout with more services to better serve the community, such as holding regular classes to teach others about sewing and various window treatments and adopt a program whereby students can shadow her work, as well as the staff’s. Also, Nancy is still working on building a more productive online store. “Window treatments are changing considerably,” Nancy says. Village Interiors is doing more contemporary work now using soft colors and whites.
